God of War III concept art reveals Fire Titan
We're always appreciative when concept artists release their work for the world at large to see. Most remains unseen due to legal hurdles, or is later monetized in the form of art books. The above God of War III image, however, was found on concept artist Cecil Kim's website and reveals the "Fire Titan." which, according to the blurb, "battles against Zeus and his allies." MTV Multiplayer proposes that this may be one of God of War III's bosses but, if the trailer is anything to go by, this massive walking volcano is much more likely to be one of ...
King of Fighters XII hits PS3, 360 worldwide this July
Ignition Entertainment has just announced a July 2009 worldwide release for King of Fighters XII, the impossibly gorgeous first HD entry in SNK Playmore's long-running 2D fighting series, on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The fighter features 20 playable characters, all of whom appear as newly redrawn sprites, fighting in equally impressive 2D backgrounds. According to the press release, preview footage and images for this unbelievably hot game are included in the PS2 release of King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match, itself a fairly nice-looking KOF -- which happens to be out today. Prepare to be burned by the Orochi ...
PS3 price cut could happen very soon
According to Janco analyst Mike Hickey, Sony could be set to announce a new, lower price point for the PS3 in the next few days. He says Sony needs to slash $100 off the price of the console to "effectively restart unit velocity at retail." He sees this cut taking effect in "April or by June at the latest." Without the cut, he predicts PS3 sales will continue to steadily decline. There's also speculation regarding a potential Blu-ray-less PS3, which would "enable them to make the aforementioned hardware price reduction," though that sounds kind of ridiculous. Without all of that Blu-ray ...
100+ million Blu-ray discs predicted to be sold in 2009
Is Blu-ray ready to hit the mainstream? According to Futuresource Consulting (via GI.biz), it appears so. The increasing number of HDTV owners, coupled with lower prices on Blu-ray players, should fuel interest in the HD movie format. "In the USA, Blu-ray has moved from early adopter phase through to early majority, with the format gaining real traction in the marketplace," said Mai Hoang, senior market analyst at Futuresource. According to Hoang, Blu-ray sales in America reached 24 million units in 2008. The analyst predicts the American market will eat 80 million discs this year. The rest will be represented by Japan, ...
Singularity spawns multiple screenshots, first trailer
In Raven Software's latest FPS, Singularity, you play as a salesperson for Cingular Wireless, now AT&T Wireless. No, that's not right. Oh yes. You play as a character who, unlike a Cingular salesperson, can manipulate time -- travel through it, use it to make folks age to death ... y'know, the usual. Anyway, the game's publisher, Activision, has released the first trailer for it and a couple dozen screenshots. The game looks mighty good, but we won't be totally convinced until we confirm players can use time to grow beards quickly. That and play it at E3. [nggallery id=3]

The game, which is coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 this summer, will be accompanied by a turntable controller designed by Numark. Today we got our first small taste of some of the music that has been licensed for the game, which leans heavily toward the hip-hop end of the spectrum. The final game will reportedly feature around ...
Wolfenstein Coming to PS3, Slips to Summer 2009
As shooter fans, we have been eagerly following the development of the latest Wolfenstein project by Raven Soft. After a flurry of initial hype, we didn’t hear anything more about this open-world shooter, which is being published by Activision-Blizzard. Last night during the company’s fourth quarter financial conference call, Activision confirmed that Wolfenstein will still be coming to consoles this year, but the release date has slipped to summer 2009. The title will release for the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms. The story so far sounds intriguing: Nazis are working to open a portal to another dimension, called “The ...

(It's confirmed at $60 for the 360/PS3 release, $40 on Wii and $30 on PS2.) According to Gadbois, this mash-up of previous Guitar Hero games will offer full band play on all 48 of its included (master) tracks, while also including the music studio, character creation, and ...
